Interview With Meg_Mac
(with comments)

Today's interview features a prolific commenter.

How did you first hear of the J-Walk Blog, and how long have you been reading it?

I think I was actually searching for penalties of j-walking. I saw this blog and the by-line 'Stuff that may or may not interest you' I thought well lets see if I am interested. I was and became immediately addicted. I love the eclectic mix of topics and commentators.

What's the significance of your screen name?

Screen name is a mish-mash of my real name. It was my email at work.

Do you read this blog from work or at home? How many times a day?

Home exclusively although I have peeked from hotel business centers.

Basic stats?

I am s si six (somebody pound me on the back!) Married. I worked for Lsi Logic for 17 years. Got laid off in 2001. I started as a wafer sort operator. Moved to Fab and was an oxide and metal etcher then when to mask alignment. Product Engineering was my main job until I moved to FA. My last few years were spent in Failure Analysis receiving pin ball grid array failures from customer site and reworking and electrical testing.

Send a copy of the weirdest photo of yourself that you can find

I can't believe I actually wore those glasses. What was I thinking? They covered my whole face. I think I threw them away when I went through menopause. They kept steaming up on me effectively blinding me. That's my youngest son Mike at his Honor awards ceremony.

Have you ever met any of the other commenters? Would you like to?

I have talked to Don Coyote via email as well as Spokane Mary. I would love to meet everyone. I imagine all the time about what people look like and what they look like when they are tapping away at the keyboard.

How many different places have you lived in?

Born in Fresno moved to Bay Area when my father went to work for Lockheed. Moved to Maui with hubby and kids in 1976-1982. Loved it until they started building hotels on all the beautiful beaches. Now too many hotels and too too many rich people stinking up the place then leaving.

What other blogs to you follow?

The usual liberal blogs. HuffPo. ThinkProgress, Media Matters, Bob Cesca Awesome Blog, FireDogLake, Slate Magazine.

I really appreciate the links from people here. Curtis is phenomenal with his links. I have thanked him before but would like to thank him again here. I try to follow everyone's link when they are making there points. Its an incredibly rich source. I have learned a lot.

Which are your favorite topics covered at the J-Walk Blog?

Any and all topics. I love the mix. Nothing is un-favorite.

Who is your favorite J-Walk Blog commenter (other than yourself), and why?

How can one choose? I loved Curtis' bacon reviews. Bisbonian is amazing. Don Coyote and Spokane Mary are friends (imho) I always read Volt's thoughts and Minderbender makes me guffaw routinely. banjo brad is a sentimental fav since he is a central Californian though he lives in Arizona. Gee, Mean Jean, Wendy, Miss Cellania all truly interesting and cogent commentators.

What is your favorite type of music?

Jazz all the time any time. Fav's Pat Metheny. Current listening to 'Down to the Bone' a group out of Britain.

On your tombstone?

Why did you put me in the ground?

Was there ever a J-Walk post that you found so offensive you temporarily stopping visiting the blog?

I got pissed of at John for deleting a comment and yelling at me. I vowed I would never return. That lasted one day.

Which celebrity would you most like to have a beer with?

Frank Sinatra if I could put a truth serum in it. That would be one interesting convo.

What is the strangest thing you believe?

If you drink black coffee as a child you will have black knees as an adult. I listened to everything my mom told me.

Why don't you play the banjo?

Tone deaf? I would rather listen I guess.

This gives you a reason to like me; I still live in Fresno. Born and raised, then moved to NC, TX and back to Fresno. Just can't get away.

Howdy! I like your answers. Drinking black coffee as a child will turn your toenails black. I thought everybody knew that!

Uh!! Why didn't I know that when I was a child??
I have always wondered what caused it.

Very nice answers. Way to sneak in the fact that your son is an honors student! Your subliminal maternal pride is showing through!
I am 41 years old and I am addicted to this blog. Maybe its because it makes me feel young hanging out with si si six year olds!
Like you I was P.O'd when John deleted a couple of my very clever posts, and vowed to never come back. But that didnt last too long!

Big big glasses are way back in (even for boys). My favorite pop star of 2009 (that's when I picked up on him), Benji Hughes, sports some wicked aviators:

You remind me of my sister-in-law! Same warm smile, open face and attitude (did I mention, I love my SIL?).

Whoa. I think there are laws about that.

I read everyone's posts, but Meg's seem to resonate with me . Considering I wrote I am Brain dead the other night, this could be taken as an insult but as I was being facetious, it's not.

When I read your comments, You remind me of the chats I have with my Sister. As for your foto, you look great!
Mine usually look like I'm having some sort of molecular breakdown.

You'd be fun to have Black Coffee with !

meg mac is such an important part of the commentary here and I'm proud to have her as a friend. I think she's everybody's sister.

I'll second that, Mary. Big hug from your Canadian friend, meg. Glad you didn't stay irked too long. If you're not getting comments deleted around here now and then, you're not trying hard enough. Next time we visit La Jolla, would sure like to meet you and Bisbonian and see a bit more of the state.

meg mac: I have an old pair of glasses just like yours. My girls laughed about them when they were growing up and now the grandgirls laugh at them because they think they are stupid. Hang in there.
