WND Birthday Greetings
(with comments)

At World Nut Daily: Send Obama an eligibility birthday greeting.

Would you like to send Barack Obama a birthday message this year? Now's your chance.

Though he has never released a long-form birth certificate, Obama claims to have been born Aug. 4, 1961, in an unnamed Honolulu hospital that has yet to take credit for the historic birth of the baby who would become America's first black president.

WND's SuperStore has designed and printed postcards for the occasion. The front of the card raises the question: "Where's the birth certificate?" The back is open for your personalized greetings.

And there you have it, folks. Why is there a need to mention his race? This whole birth certificate crusade is because they don't like the idea of a black president. It's been obvious all along, but this article pretty much seals the deal.

Absolutely! These racists will deny it to their last breath, but since they know it is uncouth to be a racist, they will use every and any other reason to be against the President. Do they really think this noise will get him ejected from office?

Uummm...it seems to me that his race was mentioned because the "first black president" is a big deal, an accomplishment recognized by both left and right wingers.

The point is made that such a historic presidency would cause the hospital to raise their hand. It’s a good point, and that is why you ignore it to focus on the red herring/straw man about “racism”. Is it racist to recognize the historic significance of “the first black president”? You must think it racist to even recognize that he is black.

You kooks and your silly conspiracy theories. Whenever there is an argument you can’t argue against, you fall back to your fallacies and fling your poo.

I don’t know if there is any credibility behind the claims that he is ineligible, but the silence from him on the matter just fuels people to keep it up. The “racism” argument certainly addresses nothing about the whole thing. It’s his extreme socialist policies that worry conservatives, not his race.

I love it that this is all they have.

Every time we hear it it just makes them look more foolish and desperate.

No one is disputing the results. It's his eligibility they have a problem with. Just show the birth certificate to shut everyone up.

And set a precedent for caving in to nut jobs? It's not going to happen.

Personally, I really enjoy reading about this birth certificate thing, and I hope they keep it up until the end of his term.

Jesus, people. He has shown the birth certificate. Some kook looking to disprove his eligibility found his birth announcement in a Honolulu newspaper. He doesn't NEED a birth certificate. No other President has shown a birth certificate. And yet you morons just won't shut up. Oh no, it's not racism. It's just blatant stupidity.

Wrong. The poor suckers are HOPING somehow someway they can negate the election. The hospital has no responsibility to do anything.

Bisbonian, isn't the right to be blatantly stupid protected under your Constitution? The nice thing about stupid people is that they make you feel pretty darn smart, relatively speaking.

Oh yeah, being in a conversation with really stupid people makes me feel slightly less stupid, I guess.

Yes, it is their right to be stupid. I don't think it is explicitly spelled out in the Constitution, but I recognize it as one of those inalienable rights. But I also think I have a right to point out how unbelievably stupid they are being, and laugh at them.

And wonder, if given the choice between being called a racist, or just off-the-chart stupid, which they would prefer to be seen as. Time will tell.

Gomers. And I don't use the word lightly. Don't fret, though, other than while playing banjo. Statistically, half the people in Canada are blatantly stupid, same as where you live.
It's Life's way of considering all its options.

The birth certificate has been shown and fondled and displayed at length in a number of venues by a variety of people.

The types who think this might make a useful argument against the Obama presidency live right across the street from those who actually think Sarah Palin might be resigning because her 8 year old daughter is pregnant.

What is a "long-form birth certificate"? is that required for itemized deductions?

I'm confused. unnamed Honolulu hospital I thought he was born at Kapiolani Medical Center.

Also, black president, I thought he was half white.

As most of you know already, I'm not much a fan of the "community organizer" but this birth certificate thing is silly. These folks need to get past the birth certificate and address the real issues.

I agree that the whole "birth certificate" question was answered a long time ago, and the World Net Daily should just drop it.

But I have to wonder about this statement, J-Walk:

This whole birth certificate crusade is because they don't like the idea of a black president.

Do you really think the WND is going after President Obama simply because he's black? Suppose that (somehow) Alan Keyes was elected President. Do you think WND would be questioning his legitimacy five months into his term because "they don't like the idea of a black president"? Their (bad) argument is: "If Obama's presidency is legitimate, then it is a historic one. So you'd think that the hospital would want to take some credit."

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to defend the WND. But you calling them racist is just as bad as what they're doing.

Unless you were being satirical. I hope that's the case.

I used to live in Hawaii and have a sister who lives with her family there. I know exactly why the hospital is staying quiet. Hawaiians are extremely proud of the fact that Barack Obama is a graduate of Punahou a prestigous
school in Oahu. Because of Obama's kama'aina status the respect and guard his privacy. It is ohana and very sacred.
Bottom line you don't talk smack about family.

The thing is, it's not a matter of opinion. The Birth Certificate has been shown. The bumps of the raised seal have been examined and fondled. The hospital has proudly acknowledged his birthplace. The 40-odd year old newspaper clipping of his birth have been published. The deniers have been proven wrong over and over and over again, and yet some people still fall for this nonsense.

Yes, supposedly The Birth Certificate has been shown, but only to a select few. Just like John Kerry's military records, come to think of it. What's with all this secrecy, when Obama could put it to rest so easily?

Putting something to rest implies that there is actually "something." There's nothing. It's a fake issue fabricated by World Net Daily.

Obama's the one keeping this issue (or non-issue) alive by his totally unnecessary secrecy.
  34. By J-Walk. Comment posted 06-Jul-2009 @05:18pm:
Tom, do you think a president should be required to address every nutty group that comes up with a stupid non-issue?

What is some whacko group came up with the idea that Obama wasn't the father of one of his daughters? Do you think he should be required to have a DNA test to satisfy this whacko group? If he didn't give in to this group, would you accuse him of unnecessary secrecy?

It's EXACTLY the same thing. In this case, WND is the whacko group.
  35. By Tom McMahon. Comment posted 06-Jul-2009 @05:40pm:
John, now you're getting silly. Whether Obama is actually the real father of his daughters has no bearing on his qualifications for the presidency. WND isn't asking Obama to donate his bone marrow; they just want to see his original, long-form birth certificate, that's all.
  36. By jigawatt. Comment posted 06-Jul-2009 @07:05pm:
    Tom,

If it really is an issue, and there's some remote chance that Obama could actually be removed from office, why in the world isn't the Republican Party all over this?

Try googling site:rnc.org "birth certificate" and you'll find that the only references to Obama's birth certificate are from blog commenters, not the actual RNC.

This is probably true; I mean, Obama's a very bright man and he's not beyond leaving you fruitcakes an old bone to chew on to keep you occupied and out of his hair.
